This is an incredible and rare chance to visit holy sites, and learn with Rabbi Shlomo Besser, an astounding scholar and storyteller. It's a treasure of an opportunity. The attached flier is just a brief description of an itinerary rich in inspiration, meaning and exposure to a new dimension of history. Learn about the past to understand the present a bit better. Please join us as we take you on a journey through Jewish history, honor the memory of those murdered during the Shoah, and pray for Divine help in the merit of such Tzaddikim as Reb Elimelech, The Rama, Chasam Sofer, Reb Shayala, Chozeh of Lublin, Sfas Emes, and many many others.

Itinerary

  • Day 1:  Wednesday, October 26: Vienna, cultural capital of Central Europe where Jews lived since the 14th century

  • Day 2:  Thursday, Depart Vienna to Bratislava, city of the Chasam Sofer and from there continue to Kerestir, of Reb Shaya'leh fame.

  • Day 3:  Friday, early departure for Poland, arriving midday in Krakow.

  • Day 4 & 5: Shabbos and Sunday in Krakow -

  • Day 6:  Monday Depart towards Rzeszow and Lancut. Continue to Lizensk ending in Lublin.

  • Tonight is the Yartzeit of Rav Meir Shapiro which we will commemorate with learning the Daf Yomi and dinner in his Yeshiva.

  • Day 7: Tuesday,  Visit Majdanek and Ger and continue to Warsaw

  • Day 8:  Wednesday, Warsaw

  • Day 9:  Thursday end of tour. Depart home.

Rabbi Shlomo Besser

Trip Leader

Rabbi Shlomo Besser is the Rav of Kehilas Bnei Yisroel Chaim on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He is a master storyteller, teacher, and mentor to the many people who have benefited from his advice and experienced the warmth of his shabbos table. Rabbi Besser, who is a musmach of Yeshivas Tiferes Yerushalayim, combines an analytic learning approach with legendary chassidic warmth, delighting audiences with his command of the histories and personalities with which our tradition abounds. He travels widely, and is able to share many anecdotes of his experiences in Eastern Europe and the rebuilding of Jewish life there. His father, HaRav Cheskel Besser ZZ”L, was a leading figure in rescuing Jewish souls and cemeteries in Poland, and a leader in Agudas Yisroel.

Rabbi Yonah Bookstein

Tour Guide

Rabbi Yonah Bookstein, is a unique 21st century spiritual leader, community builder and activist, who inspires passion for Jewish life and making the world a more Godly place. He is co-founder and Deanna and Allen Alevy Senior Rabbi at LA’s Pico Shul, directs Shabbat Tent and other projects building spiritual community for Jews in their 20s and 30. Rabbi Yonah was instrumental in the rebirth of the Polish Jewish community after the end of communism. He and his wife Rachel lived and worked in Poland with the Jewish community for many years. He is also fluent in Polish. Rabbi Yonah was a Fulbright Fellow at Jagillonian University in Krakow, and completed a Masters in Jewish Studies at Oxford University. His received smicha from Ohr Somayach Monsey, under the tutelage of HaRav Shraga Feivel Zimmerman.

Flights

You can book your own from to meet us in Vienna. You can arrive in Europe earlier or stay later. Or maybe go on to Israel.


We have a group fare on the designated flights we chose from NY for $775.00, which upon payment of a small deposit prolongs the issue date of the ticket. There are cheaper, but more restrictive fares available which require immediate ticketing and do not allow check in luggage and seat selection.

 

Important Trip Notes

  • Please note due to local regulations you must have a proof of Covid-19 vaccination.

  • Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from arrival date.

  • Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory.

  • $1,500 is deposit and full payment is due September 23.

 

FAQ

How many cities will we visit?

Cities include: Vienna, Bratislava, Kerestir, Kraków, Rzeszów, Łańcut, Leżajsk, Lublin, Ger, Piaseczno, Warsaw. Depending on travel conditions and timing we hope to visit additional places as well.

What is the age range?

Our group will include young professionals, couples, and some who have retired.

How many people on the trip?

We plan on keeping the tour between 25-40 people.

What is a daily schedule like?

Most probably, 7:30am breakfast and returning to the hotel about 8:00/9:00 ish in the evening. We tour or travel 12- 15 hours a day. Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings will be in Cracow so there will be minimal travel on those days. Bus travel each day will be different. There are no overnight bus trips.

Is this for men and women?

Yes!

When is the deposit due?

A deposit is due Sept. 23 to secure your place!

Can I do part of the trip?

Potentially yes! Please be in touch with us if you only want to participate on part of the tour.

Is this a Holocaust tour?

This is a Jewish heritage tour which includes visiting places of martyrdom and learning about the Holocaust.

What hotels will be be staying in?

We book only 5-star modern hotels.


The only exception is trips which stay overnight in Kerestir, Hungary, as the guest house is a 2 star hotel.
